Connect your own AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Le Chat) to your Nextcloud

With Nextcloud Family and Nextcloud Max you can connect your own AI chat to your Nextcloud at WebOké. Then ask ChatGPT, for example: "What appointments do I have tomorrow?" or "Find the quote from Jansen and summarise it". The AI works as your Nextcloud user and never sees more than you do. This is free for now; you use your own AI subscription.

Connecting

1. In your AI app, add a connector (MCP server) with the address https://mijn.weboke.nl/mcp.
2. The AI app opens our login screen. Choose Log in to WebOké if you own the package, or I only have a Nextcloud account if you are, for example, a family member or employee. Then enter the address of your Nextcloud.
3. Click Log in to Nextcloud. A window of your own Nextcloud opens; log in and grant access. Your password never reaches us or the AI app.
4. Choose per feature what the AI may do: read (look up and summarise) and/or write (create or change things). By default only reading is on.
5. Click Grant access. You return to your AI app and the connection is ready.

What the AI can do

• Files: search, open and summarise (including pdf, Word and Excel); create, edit, move and move to the trash bin.
• Calendar and tasks: view, create and change appointments and tasks.
• Contacts and notes: search, read, create and update.
• Deck and Talk: if those apps are enabled and the owner allows it.
• Sharing: creating share links is off by default; the owner can turn it on.

Before changing or deleting anything, your AI app asks for your permission. Deleted files go to the Nextcloud trash bin and can be restored.

For the package owner

The product page of your Nextcloud package has the card Connect your own AI. There you decide per feature the most an AI may do on this package, enable or disable connecting for the whole package, and see who connected which AI. Revoke stops a connection immediately. You get an email as soon as someone connects an AI on your package.

Revoking

With a portal account, revoke a connection under MCP server in the portal. Without a portal account you can do it in Nextcloud itself: Personal settings, Security, Devices and sessions. The owner can also revoke any connection.

Privacy

What the AI reads goes to the AI service you use yourself and falls under your own agreement with that service. We do not store the content of your files. If you want everything to stay in the EU, use Le Chat by Mistral.
